Valleytown Farm
Square Bale Improvement
Grant Award: $10,000
Valleytown Farm supplies square hay bales to a niche market made up of horse and small animal owners. Their business has grown over the past few years from 450 bales on six acres to 1925 bales on 22 acres. Their production is at a point where they need better equipment to continue increasing their production.
Lucas will use his grant to replace his 1970s-model square baler with a newer New Holland 311 or 575 square baler, along with an accumulator/grapple. The new equipment will enable them to increase production, quality, and accuracy of their bales. The recent completion of a new 26’x35’ storage building will allow them to store bales for the 2026 season, increasing their season into the winter months.
