Ivy Creek Family Farm

Cooling for the Present and Future
Grant Award: $10,000

Ivy Creek Family Farm sells vegetables through several tailgate markets, their farmstand, and to wholesale customers. In Anna’s years of farming experience, spring and warm temperatures have been arriving sooner. Despite using shade cloth on the high-tunnels in late spring, the heat was still too intense for the young plants last year.

In 2025, Ivy Creek Family Farm suffered significant losses of tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers due to heat stress in its hoop houses. To mitigate this crop damage, Ivy Creek will purchase and install fan systems to cool five of their 13 high tunnels, which will enable them to extend the high-tunnel cucumber season through the summer and increase yields in summer crops.
