Blazing Star Flowers
Heated Propagation Greenhouse
Grant Award: $10,000
Blazing Star Flowers specializes in high-quality, sustainably grown cut flowers and plant starts, sold through diverse outlets including farmers markets, plant sales, a flower CSA, special-event floral design, and workshops. After six seasons at the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy Community Farm, Blazing Star Flowers is moving to its permanent location on 17 newly purchased acres in Alexander. During this move, Suzanne will lose access to the 30’x48’ heated greenhouse she has rented at the farm.
To maintain her production during the move and allow for continued and scaled-up production at the new location, Suzanne will purchase a heated greenhouse kit with an automatic venting system. The greenhouse will also feature an automated watering system to improve efficiency and plant quality.
