The 2023 Year End Dinner took place on October 9th at Kestrel Herb Farm, located in beautiful Sandy Mush in Buncombe County. Over 40 attendees were treated to a farm tour by recipient Mike Adams. Seventeen of this year’s 31 grantees were in attendance, along with WNC Communities’ board members, NC Cooperative Extension Agriculture Agents and members of AgOptions Steering Committee. Buncombe County Commissioner Terri Wells, a resident of Sandy Mush and a tireless advocate for agriculture in WNC, was also present.

Photographs from all the year’s projects were shared and each grant recipient had the chance to update the group on highlights from their 2023 projects.

A wonderful meal made from 2023 recipient’s farm products was prepared by Tina and Galen Tuten from Haywood County. Although a chilly October afternoon, the outside covered event area provided an excellent venue with amazing views for this annual year-end event to celebrate the grant recipients’ hard work.
