Regina Jodie McCord, Great Blue Farms

Seed to Bloom to Bouquet
Grant Award: $8,000

Having grown up on her family’s tobacco/vegetable farm, Jodie has been growing annuals, perennials, bi-annuals and shrubs for weddings and events on the same farm since 2019. In 2020, Great Blue Farms tripled production and sales to include weddings, pop-up flower bars, bouquet sales, and flower arranging classes and workshops. Sales continued to increase exponentially in 2021.

To continue growth of the farm, they have added a 12′ x 24′ Grow Span Estate Elite Large Greenhouse with propane heated/solar vents with exhaust fans, black shade cloth and two 4′ x 8′ metal benches.

This spring, the new greenhouse will enable her to start all her seedlings there and free up her garage, which she is currently using. She also plans to hold wreath making and floral design classes in the greenhouse.

Jody sells her flowers at a marketplace in Murphy, where she has had much success. She has had two brunch and bloom events this season and collaborated with Ray Nations on a wreath making event at Harrah’s Casino. She also arranges her flowers for weddings and other events.
