Grade A Sheep Dairy

Grassroots Farm and Dairy has built a small scale Grade A sheep dairy.
With a 2015 WNC AgOptions grant, they purchased all the necessary milking and milk storage equipment to establish a Grade B facility. They have used the 2018 grant to reach Grade A certification in order to sell sheep milk and sheep milk products for human consumption.
They have made significant upgrades to their milking parlor – upgrading plumbing, building walls to separate the parlor from processing room, upgraded lighting and electrical system, replaced windows and covered existing walls with approved washable material. They will be the only Grade A sheep dairy in WNC to offer their unique product to retail outlets as well as farmers markets and from the farm.
