Solar Greenhouse for Fraser Fir Seedlings/Transplants

To move away from being highly dependent on suppliers in the Pacific Northwest, the Beuttells installed a 16′ x 24′ solar powered greenhouse to grow their own quality seedlings and transplants for their 110 acre Fraser Fir operation.
Growing their own transplants will provide additional operating capital during the year, allowing them to hire more local workers and be more independent of market conditions and availability.
They will also be growing Phytophthora Root Rot (PRR) resistant rootstock and graft Fraser’s on top to have PRR resistant plants.
This project will ensure a constant and reliable source of transplants for them and other farmers in the region.
