Jon is producing nucleus honeybee colonies for sale to replace colony losses; trapping, packaging and marketing fresh high quality bee pollen; offering hands-on educational workshops and internships in beekeeping; and selling a variety of high quality mountain honeys. He is purchasing queens, NC-made wooden-ware, hive components, feeders, pollen traps and protective clothing for interns.
By diversifying his beekeeping beyond honey production, Jon aims to be prepared for years of poor honey production and soon reach profitability. Jon markets his nucleus colonies through many online sites and networks and is developing his website www.wildmountainbees.com.
