The Pressleys are transitioning a 30-year-old apple farm and fourth generation land to blueberries. Last year, they tested 150 plants of eight varieties on their farm with a 93% success rate. They are initially marketing the berries as You-Pick and through a website and various social networking sites.
The family members aim to create a sustainable community farm that provides a vital product, and they envision expanding beyond blueberries in future years.
