Wool & Asparagus – Grant Award: $3,000

Since 1954, Kathy has worked on her family farm, which her family has operated since the 1870s. She now raises livestock. The WNC AgOptions award will assist Tinsley in expanding her wool processing operation. She will purchase additional ewes for her flock, dyes for the wool, and an electric skein winder to help wind the wool into manageable units for dying.
She will also establish an asparagus patch for sale at the local tailgate markets, where she also markets the wool. She is developing brochures to market the wool to retail shops for consignment sales.
