Stoney Hollow Farm Kitchen – Grant Award: $6,000
“The kitchen has increased farm income, and it makes a better use of the crop. There’s no waste.” ~ Stephanie Loafman
“We have the value-added products right here, and the customers can see what we’re doing.” ~ Scott Boxberger
Scott has produced fruits & vegetables since 1998. With the award, he plans to build a commercial kitchen to produce a variety of value-added products from the fruits, vegetables & herbs grown on the farm. The additional workload will be handled by Stephanie with Five Sisters, a local value-added producer of jams, jellies and condiments.
The kitchen products will increase annual revenue, particularly off-season, and will increase visibility of the farm business in the community as well as traffic on the farm. The project will be the first step in Scott’s plans to make his farm an agritourism destination.
